Overview

Opened in 2014, El Sol Restaurante & Tequileria in Washington, DC has been serving authentic Mexican cuisine inspired by the flavors and heritage of chef-owners Jessica and Alfredo Solis' native Mexico City. The two siblings, who both have more than a decade of culinary experience under their belts, opened El Sol with the desire to share the culture and cuisine of their heritage and homeland. The menu is driven by the foods they grew up with, from street food staples of Mexico City, like Huaraches -- corn flour flatbreads stuffed with cactus, fresh cheeses and meats -- to Tortas and Tacos. Fresh mole is shipped in straight from Peubla, Mexico every week by the siblings' mother for favorites like the Enchilada de Mole Rojo.
